Sammy Gray

Sammy Gray is Director of Government Affairs for Appalachian Power in West Virginia, where he manages relationships with state government officials, members of the West Virginia Legislature, and various state agencies and trade organizations. He directs a team of External Affairs Managers who work with local governments and community organizations to help meet the needs of the communities served by Appalachian Power. Sammy also leads the company’s state lobbying efforts in Charleston, West Virginia.
Prior to his current role, he served as Senior Advisor of Government Affairs in West Virginia for FirstEnergy Corporation, an electric utility serving 6 million customers across West Virginia, Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.
He is chair of the Utilities, Telecommunications and Energy Coalition of West Virginia, a trade organization representing utilities across the state, and is a former chair of the Government Relations Committee of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce.
Sammy holds undergraduate degrees in History and Political Science from Glenville State University and a Master of Public Administration from West Virginia University.
Sammy resides in Roane County, West Virginia, with his wife, Kristie, their daughter, Addison, and their son, Ethan.
