John Reisenweber

John Reisenweber serves as State Director for Rural Development in West Virginia. In this role, he works alongside federal, state, and local partners to coordinate Rural Development’s strategy to strengthen and revitalize rural communities across the state.
Most recently, he served as Vice President of Strategy for the Civil Military Innovation Institute (CMI2). Prior to that, John was Executive Director of the Jefferson County Development Authority, where he helped attract hundreds of millions of dollars in economic investment, leading to the creation and retention of approximately 1,000 jobs.
Earlier in his career, John worked as a commercial lender at United Bank and as a senior consultant at Booz Allen, where he worked with the United States Navy, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. He also served as regional representative for Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito, covering six counties in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle and Potomac Highlands regions.
John has held numerous volunteer leadership positions in West Virginia, including service on the boards of the Region 9 Planning and Development Council, the West Virginia Economic Development Council, and the Jefferson County Convention and Visitors Bureau, among others.
He graduated from Washington and Lee University with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and earned a Master of Arts in Political Science from Oregon State University. John lives in Martinsburg, West Virginia, with his wife, Erin, and their three children, Jack, Lilly, and Benjamin.
