Jason Pizatella

Jason Pizatella is chief executive officer of the Contractors Association of West Virginia, becoming only the sixth person to lead the association since its founding in 1923. A respected attorney, lecturer, organizational leader, and trusted adviser across three gubernatorial administrations, he brings a broad range of legal, policy, and executive experience to the role.

A native of Fairmont and a graduate of West Virginia University and the West Virginia University College of Law, Pizatella practiced law with Spilman Thomas & Battle, PLLC, before joining CAWV on October 1, 2022. He previously served in numerous leadership roles during the administrations of Governors Joe Manchin III, Earl Ray Tomblin, and Jim Justice, including two terms as deputy chief of staff. After beginning his career in private practice, he joined state government in 2010 and, over the course of nearly seven years, also served as deputy state tax commissioner, acting secretary of the Department of Revenue, and acting secretary of the Department of Administration.

Throughout his career, Pizatella has served on numerous boards and commissions, including the Consolidated Public Retirement Board, Water Development Authority, Infrastructure and Jobs Development Council, Parkways Authority, State Personnel Board, and Capitol Building Commission. He currently serves on the boards of The Education Alliance in Charleston and the Regional Economic Development Partnership in Wheeling.

He is a graduate of Leadership West Virginia and the Council of State Governments’ Henry Toll Fellowship Program, one of the nation’s premier leadership development programs for state government leaders. West Virginia Executive magazine recognized him as a member of its 2015 class of “Young Guns” and its 2023 class of “Lawyers and Leaders.”

Pizatella also serves as chairman of the Fairmont State University Board of Governors.
