Randy E. Smith has represented the 14th Senatorial District of West Virginia since 2016, following four years of service as a Delegate from 2012 to 2016. In January, he was elected Senate President and will preside over the Upper Chamber during the 87th Legislature.
Randy lives in Preston County with his wife of 46 years, Patty. A retired coal miner, he spent 44 years working in the mines, retiring in 2023 as a mine safety manager. In his spare time, he enjoys being with his family and going fly fishing.
He remains very active in his district, regularly attending FFA auctions, senior dinners, and other community events across the six counties he serves.
Randy is committed to strengthening West Virginia’s economy by focusing on improvements to roads, broadband, expanding the energy sector, promoting economic development, and creating a better environment for small businesses.
